Jim qualified in 1992 and joined the firm in 2002. He became a partner in 2003.
Jim has over 15 years of experience advising on a wide range of property and Landlord and Tenant litigation matters. He acts for both landlords and tenants in relation to service charge disputes, dilapidations claims, forfeiture claims, business lease renewals and rent reviews.
Jim has particular expertise in all aspects of leasehold enfranchisement (purchase /sale of freeholds and extension of leases of flats and houses), having specialised in this field since qualification and in particular since the very significant expansion of rights in relation to flats introduced by the Leasehold Reform Act 1993.
Jim acted for Boss Holdings in its successful appeal to the House of Lords in the landmark decision concerning the definition of a house under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967. He also has specialist knowledge of Housing and Rent Act legislation.
Jim is a member of the Property Litigation Association.
